Petrol Price Hike and other matters

It has been announced that the price of petrol will be increased to RM 2.70 by midnight. And being the scrooge I am (along with 750 000 other people) I went on a last minute petrol hunt with my mother.

We departed our house at 8.00 pm, to find a great queue one kilometer long (at least) and four to five cars wide. The whole situation was at such a stage that it was impossible to pull out of the line once you are in it. And that is not the worse case yet. I had to queue for more than an hour before reaching my turn. And I saw something amusing. There was a man in a Kancil, who paid RM 30 for petrol. However, A Kancil's tank is not very big and ergo RM 30 worth of petrol is too much for the poor car to take. Despite the fact that his car's fuel tank is full, this man continued trying to force feed petrol to his poor car. He even started shaking his car left to right, trying to 'make room' for more petrol, and ending up spilling petrol on the ground. After two such attempts, he gave up and drove off, leaving a smelly mess on the floor of the petrol station. Such desperation!!

Finally it was our turn and we quickly filled up our tank (afraid that the petrol would run out just as we were fueling up, such naivety) but we were met with another queue: the outgoing one. You see, the petrol station we filled up in was next to another station, and the queue from THAT station is blocking our way home. So there we waited for another few minutes. When we finally reached home, it was already 9.25 pm. We took almost one and a half hours!!! Insanity!!

And so, that was my experience queuing up for petrol.
